Callie is a 2 year old Rat Terrier mix who we rescued from the shelter. She's a petite little thing who weighs about 7 lbs tops. Callie loves to be in your arms. When our rescuer went into the shelter and opened Callie's kennel door, Callie jumped right up into her arms! She seems to be most comfortable when she can be right up next to her human. Callie is tiny enough (and light enough) to fit in a little purse/bag and stick right by your side, running errands with you, etc.

Callie is shy but bonds quickly and will be a velcro dog. She has bonded with both members of her foster family, and will gradually accept others. Callie can be defensive when she’s startled or guarding a valuable resource. Her adopter will understand this tendency and provide an environment that minimizes these situations. We also have some useful suggestions how to address her guarding tendencies.

Her foster home reports that Callie is a sweet and cuddly girl who needs an experienced home that establishes boundaries. She’s bright and playful, and loves her doggie bed. She learned the doggie door instantly and hasn’t had any accidents. She’s as quiet as a mouse when sleeping in her crate overnight, especially next to other dogs in their crates. Callie understands dog hierarchy and quickly understood her place in her foster pack and respects her peers. Callie has been very easy because of the structure of our home. She fit right in. Here’s a video from her foster home: https://vimeo.com/271414186#t=0s

Callie gets along with other dogs. She is more of one who co-exists. But for folks who don't have another dog she's an option. For folks who work all day, she is an option.

Callie is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years (owned personally not a parent's or roommates dog and not petsitting a dog). If there are children in the home, they need to be over the age of 8 and on the mellower side.
