Diamond is a 10-12 month old Maltipoo. She has a nonshedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. She will need to be groomed regularly. We will be looking for a home that understands the grooming needs of this breed. She was shaved down because she was like one big fur mat. Poor dog...

Diamond was listed as unadoptable at the shelter. She hid underneath a bed and growled and snarled like she was possessed. We asked if we could meet her and just see if there was anything that could save her. We went in the cage, got her bed away from her (so she couldn't hide behind or under it) and looped her with a leash and within 10 minutes from start to finish she was sitting on our volunteer's lap kissing her like crazy. Whatever the cause was this is a very different dog today. No one had touched her at all while she was at the shelter until we met her that day. Here's what we have learned: She will love people. She is scared of them initially. It takes someone she trusts introducing her to another person. So from volunteer to volunteer, we hand her off to them and she is ok. She has a wide range of friends now. When you first meet her, you can't try to grab her or go too quickly. Let someone introduce you to her and she will trust you. She likes women over men. She is not a kid's dog.

Diamond is 100% going to be the dog that changes someone's life. For someone who wants that dog who treats them and acts like the sun rose and set on them, this is her. But don't expect that in the first 9 minutes. It may take the whole 10 minutes. She may never be a stranger dog. She may never be a dog who can go out into public and meet and greet. If you don't care about that and you just want a dog who lives for you, then come meet Diamond.

Diamond doesn't care about other dogs. She's fixated on loving her person. She doesn't care if there are other dogs around...She goes outside with them, plays for a minute until she hears her person and then she is back in to be the velcro dog she was always meant to be...

Diamond is only an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. If there are kids they have to be teenagers and not have a bunch of kids in and out of the home or at least ones who will demand to interact with Diamond.
