Meet Talullah Belle! She is a 10 year old Shih Tzu who the sheltered called us on and said, "We have a dog who needs a dental and is a senior, can you take her?" The minute we saw her it was clear she needed a bit more than a dental...As it turns out she has a broken jaw. She at some point had surgery on it and all the wiring and the hard plate at the roof of her mouth are all hanging down now inside of her mouth. And you know what? You couldn't meet a happier, more fun loving dog, than this little girl. We don't know what broke that jaw in the first place and we don't know what trauma she has been through but we've promised her a life hereon out that is full of love, affection and pain free.
Mid October she had surgery at the specialist. They were able to take all of the old wiring out but because the original surgery was so ineffective and the jaw had healed improperly there was no way to reset the jaw. Due to her age she would have never been able to stave off infection had they rebroken her jaw. So they put some new nuts and bolts in, pulled over 15 teeth and aligned what they could. She'll always have a bit of a crooked smile but she's so beautiful and happy. Even immediately after her surgery she was trying to give kisses!
